ACTIVITIES IN SUNVILLA
The most beautiful cycling routes on the Slovenian coast
Even in the colder months, you can spend your vacation on the Slovenian coast actively! Why just lounge by the heated seawater pools when you can warm up and soak up the sun's rays while taking in the natural and cultural beauty of the surrounding area, while having a fun and active day – on a bike!
There are many marked and unmarked cycling routes of varying difficulty along the Slovenian coast. You can take a trip with the family along beautifully maintained, asphalted cycling routes, while the more daring cycling routes also lead along gravel and forest roads, sprinkled with variously challenging ascents and exciting descents. For lovers of cycling, the Slovenian coast offers many different challenging options for a slightly different experience of this wonderful landscape. so when you go on vacation, don't forget your bike at home. However, if this happens to you, you can also rent bicycles at Hotel Histrion in Portorož, Hotel Salinera in Strunjan and Hotel San Simon in Izola.
Families with older children, young athletes and recreational cyclists can also embark on a moderately demanding tour around Tinjan, which is full of ups and downs. The tour around Tinjan takes about two to three hours, but of course we can also make several stops to see the many local beauties and sights, for a snack or a rest.

The most famous is the organized, marked, varied and fairly undemanding cycling route between Izola and Sečovlje. This cycling tour is suitable for all cycling enthusiasts: for recreational users, for young families and also for the elderly.
ITINERARY:
We set off in Izola, at the intersection between Leninova and Prešernova streets, in the direction of the hills, where we quickly see a sign for the cycling route.

Further on, the 550 m long, illuminated Valeta tunnel awaits us, through which we cycle to the descent towards Lucia.
We can continue the route past Seča, where we cross the main road and continue the route past Parece all the way to Sečovelj.

The cycling adventure continues in the direction of Šmarja and slowly descends towards Dragonja, from where it climbs again towards Sv. Peter and Nova vas nad Dragonja.
This is followed by a descent through Šmarje and the continuation of the route through Gažon, along the Markovec road to Semedela.

Another, more challenging cycling route, 43.12 km long, takes us over the main road along macadam tracks along the Dragonja River. This tour is also suitable for very endurance cyclists.
ITINERARY:
The tour starts in Seča and quickly connects to the famous Parenzana cycling route. We cycle to Sečovelj, where we turn left before the Dragonj border crossing. The route is very busy, so caution will not be superfluous in this part.
We continue our journey through Dragonja to the village of Križišče and further through the village of Mačujek, along the Dragonja valley. We cycle along a macadam road, past vineyards, where, despite the slight climb, we can enjoy the peace and beauty of nature in a relaxed manner.
This is followed by a longer ascent towards Babiči, through Pomjan, where the path flattens out again and leads to the village of Šmarje, from where there is a descent to the roundabout of the main road leading to Koper. At the roundabout, turn left up the slope towards Gažon and continue towards Šaredo.
We continue past Malija, through Korte, the largest settlement in the Izola hinterland. At the intersection, turn left and go down the narrow road to Pacug, and from there back to Seča, where we started our cycling adventure.

Running or walking
Along the Slovenian coast, you can find numerous trails for different difficulty levels of running. Both beginners and marathon runners can try their hand at them. One of the more well-known coastal routes is the route from Koper to Izola, which runs along the former Parazzana railway and ends in Simon's Bay. Although the trail is rugged and lively, it is definitely suitable for beginners as well. For even more ideas and inspiration, you can help yourself with the Endomondo app, where runners can post interesting running routes themselves. The trails, which are intended for both cyclists and runners, are also suitable for hikers and Nordic walking. This is an extremely healthy and natural activity for the body, in which we use most of the muscle groups, which is why we strengthen the whole body with it. If you are a fan of walking and hiking in general, then Nordic walking is a great upgrade that is suitable for all generations.
Wake up your body and spirit with a relaxing morning run to the pleasant sounds of the sea or go on an attractive bicycle tour along the rugged paths of the coastal hinterland. The Slovenian coast opens up possibilities for everyone who wants to spend their vacation with a full measure of activities and varied experiences.
